Anxiety causes our bodies to tense up and we are not always aware of this.
To release this tension, use progressive relaxation.
How to do this?
Sit or lie down comfortably.
Focus on one muscle group at a time. For example, one hand.
Inhale and tense that hand as much as you can for five seconds.
Exhale and release the tension until that muscle group is limp.
Now repeat this for all muscle groups in your body. If you don't have enough time, even one or three will help.
This exercise, besides relaxing you, will make you aware of the tension in your body so you can help yourself. Do it any time of the day.
